We went for dinner at East Village and spotted this popular Haig Road Putu Piring Cafe while going to the mall's toilet. The fragrance of from the steaming putu Piring had lured us closer to the shop, making us to order them.
It is a takeaway kiosk whereby you can pay through the semi-automated cashier if you are paying cash.
Putu Piring Cafe |
Our order was placed in a box. While we always call this as the Malay Version of Tu Tu Kueh which is also known as Steamed Rice Cake.
Packaging |
Each piece looks simple yet has exquisite flavours. It is delicate and cylindrical, making every piece an art. Each Putu Piring is typically served with a banana leaf as a base, contributing to its natural charm. This modest appearance belies the explosion of flavours that awaits inside.
Putu Piring Gula Melaka - $5 for 4 |
We had Gula Melaka as the filling. It lies a sweet, gooey mixture and this molten sweetness oozes out when we bite into it, creating an indulging burst of flavour.
