Syed Saddiq arrives in Selangor on 200km protest run from Muar

Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has completed over half his 200km run from his constituency to the Parliament building in Kuala Lumpur.

Starting his run on Friday (June 28), he reached Beranang, Selangor, around 11.45am today.

“I have less than 80km before I reach Parliament. Today will be more challenging than before,” he said on X.

The former Muda president initiated the “Langkah Muar” campaign to protest the government’s failure to allocate constituency funds to opposition lawmakers.

Syed Saddiq expressed concern over the lack of allocations for opposition-held constituencies, pointing out that constituencies under government MPs received RM20 million while opposition constituencies received none.

He said that despite efforts made, including meetings with the deputy prime minister and multiple letters sent, no progress had been made.

In a separate post, he announced that the run had raised RM101,006 in less than 48 hours.

“Alhamdulillah, I am grateful to everyone. The more pressure, the more friends.

“No matter how painful it is, I will not stop.

“I owe it to the people, those who gave me a chance to serve, and Malaysia.”

He will run another 25km in the evening and anticipates reaching the finish line around 8.30am tomorrow.
